Thinking About Selling Your Rolex or Luxury Watch in Santa Rosa?
By the team at Olde Towne Jewelers, serving Santa Rosa since 1993
There is a good chance a nice watch is sitting in a drawer somewhere in your house right now. Maybe it was a gift, or something you inherited, or a piece you wore for a decade and then replaced. Fine watches do not lose their worth the way most things do, and a lot of people are surprised to learn that the watch they stopped wearing years ago is worth real money today.
If you have been thinking about selling a luxury watch, here is how it works and what to keep in mind before you do.
The watches we buy
We buy a wide range of wristwatches and pocket watches, from everyday luxury names to serious collector pieces. That includes brands like Rolex, Omega, Patek Philippe, Cartier, Tudor, Longines, and Hamilton, along with vintage and antique pocket watches. You do not need to know the model or the year. If it is a quality watch, bring it in and we will tell you what we are looking at.
Working or not, complete or not, it is worth a conversation. Some of the pieces people almost throw away turn out to be the most interesting ones. Just about everything has crossed the counter at our Railroad Square shop over the years, from vintage Longines and Hamilton pieces to modern Rolex and Omega, and Eric, our owner, would happily spend an afternoon walking you through the history of a single watch.
What actually affects a watch's value
A few things move the needle more than others:
- Brand and model. Certain names and references hold their value far better than others, and some vintage models are more sought after than the newer ones.
- Condition. Original dials, hands, and cases matter to collectors. Honest wear is expected, but originality counts.
- Box and papers. If you still have the original box, warranty card, receipts, or service records, bring them. They can meaningfully raise an offer.
- Servicing and rarity. A recently serviced movement and a limited or discontinued model both add value.
You do not have to sort any of this out ahead of time. It just helps to know why one watch brings more than another.
How selling your watch works with us
We kept the process simple. You bring the watch in, we examine it in front of you, and we walk you through what we see. Then we make you an offer. If it works for you, we pay you. There is no shipping your watch off to a stranger and waiting to hear back, and no pressure to say yes.
We would rather you leave understanding your watch than feel rushed. That is how we have done business here for a long time. If you want the details before you visit, our watch buying service page lays out exactly what we look for, and if you are settling an estate we can arrange a professional appraisal as well.
Sell to a local jeweler you can walk back into
Mail-in buyers and pawn shops are easy to find online. The trouble is you rarely get to look someone in the eye, and you cannot walk back in with a question. We have been buying and selling fine watches in Santa Rosa since 1993, we are accredited with the Better Business Bureau, and our customers tend to come back. When you sell to a local shop, you get a real person and a fair offer for something that took real craftsmanship to build.
If you have a Rolex or another luxury watch you are considering selling, stop by either of our Santa Rosa locations or give us a call. We are always glad to take a look.
